There are many diverse types of language. Each type has its own set of rules and conventions.
The four main types of language are spoken, written, signed, body language, etc…
- Spoken language is the most common type of language. It is used in everyday conversation between people who share a mutual understanding of the symbols and sounds used in communication.
- Written language uses symbols such as letters or numbers to communicate ideas or messages on paper or screen-based media such as computers or tablets.
- Signed or sign languages use hand gestures, facial expressions, body movements, and/or written symbols to communicate meaning.
- Body language includes posture, gestures, facial expressions, and eye contact.
All of these types of languages can be used to communicate messages between people.
