An integrated circuit, also known as an IC or a chip, is a tiny electronic device that contains transistors, resistors and other electronic components. These components are all interconnected to form one complete circuit on a small piece of silicon.

Integrated circuits are used in almost all electronic devices today, from computers and cell phones to TVs and digital cameras. They have revolutionized the way we live and work by making our electronics smaller, faster and more powerful than ever before.

ICs are made up of two main parts: the active region where the transistors are located, and the passive region where the resistors and other components are located. The active region is usually made up of n-type silicon (silicon with extra electrons) while the passive region is made up of p-type silicon (silicon with missing electrons).
