Epistemology Overview

Epistemology is the study of knowledge. It asks the question, “What is knowledge?” and tries to determine what we can know, and how we can know it.

There are many different theories of epistemology, but they can be divided into two main camps: those who believe that knowledge is possible, and those who think that it isn’t. The first group includes philosophers like Plato and Descartes, who believed that we could have certain knowledge about things like mathematics and morality. The second group includes thinkers like Hume and Kant, who thought that our beliefs could never be more than probable guesses.

So which camp is right? Unfortunately, there’s no easy answer. Epistemology is a complex subject with many different arguments on both sides. In the end, each person will have to decide for themselves what they think about epistemology.
