Add a subdomain record to your DNS zone file when your domain is using SOLVEFORCE nameservers. Subdomains use a domain prefix, such as blog.solveforce.com, as an A record to point to an IP address. To add a subdomain that points to a domain name, you’ll need to add a CNAME record.

  1. Sign in to your SOLVEFORCE Domain Portfolio. (Need help logging in? Find your username or password.)
  2. Select  Domain Edit Options next to your domain and then select Edit DNS. You may need to scroll down to see the Edit DNS option.
  3. Select Add to add a new record.
  4. Select A from the Type menu options.
  5. Enter the details for your new subdomain A record:
    • Name: The hostname or prefix for the subdomain. For example, enter blog to create a subdomain for blog.solveforce.com.
    • Value: The IP address for your subdomain. This will usually be the IP address of your hosting account.
    • TTL: How long the server should cache information? The default setting is 1 hour.
  6. Select Add Record to save your new subdomain A record.

Most DNS updates take effect within an hour, but could take up to 48 hours to update globally.

  • You can edit an existing record to change any details.
  • Or you can delete a record if it’s no longer needed.
