CC – Competitive Carrier

Competitive carriers (CCs) are telecommunications providers that compete with incumbent carriers. They typically provide services to business and residential customers in areas where the incumbent carrier does not offer service, or they may offer a different type of service than the incumbent carrier. CCs may also provide services to mobile users, such as voice and data services.

The term “competitive carrier” is used in many countries to describe telecommunications companies that compete against each other for customers. In some cases, a competitive carrier may be an alternative local exchange carrier (ALEC), which provides local telephone service in competition with the incumbent local exchange carrier (ILEC). In other cases, a competitive carrier may be an interexchange Carrier (IXC), which provides long-distance telephone service in competition with the ILECs.

CCs typically have lower prices than incumbents, due to their smaller market share and lack of economies of scale. However, CCs also face challenges such as high customer acquisition costs and difficulty obtaining funding for expansion projects.
