As artificial intelligence (AI) and machine learning take over more and more tasks, we’ll see BI software become more thoughtful and valuable. In this article, I’ll cover the ways AI will affect BI in the next few years:

The New Wave of AI Advancement

AI and machine learning will be everywhere within the next three years, including in business analytics software. AI is the new buzzword and tool of the future. Machine learning is a subset of AI, and it’s being built into every software package. It’s also being made into every business process, industry, and even individual customer interaction, such as through chatbots.

Augmented Intelligence is Set to Lead Decision Making

You may have heard the phrase, “AI is not a replacement for human intelligence.” While this is true, it’s essential to understand how AI will help us make better decisions and increase our productivity. For example: In the past, if you wanted to know what your friends were doing when they weren’t with you, there was no way of tracking that information until now.

With tools like Google Assistant and other similar programs like Siri, Alexa, and Cortana, we can now easily ask AI for updates on our friends all the time. This means that instead of having one person who has access to all these different pieces of information themselves, they’ll be able to share them among several people instead.

Database Upgrades with AI in Mind

The database is the foundation of any BI solution. The data in your database is what you use to create your analytics and reports, which are then used to make decisions for your business. In the next few years, almost every existing database will get an AI upgrade in some form or another. Data scientists will use AI algorithms on their own data sets to help them improve predictive models. Business analysts will use machine learning algorithms to build new ones by analyzing existing ones. Data engineers can apply machine learning techniques directly within their databases if they want an even more powerful way of optimizing queries or adding new features.

AI in Business Intelligence & Automated Analytics

Machine learning is a subset of AI, which itself is an umbrella term for software that’s been trained to make decisions based on a set of rules. Machine learning algorithms are programs that can be made to learn without being explicitly programmed by humans. This means their human creators can’t limit them; instead, they’re capable of solving problems without relying on information provided by humans—or even other computers.
