Task-Specific: Each Narrow AI system is tailored to perform a specific task or a set of closely related tasks. It doesn’t have the capability to perform functions outside its designated domain.
Prevalence: Most of the AI applications in use today are examples of Narrow AI. This includes voice assistants (like Siri or Alexa), recommendation systems on streaming platforms (like Netflix or Spotify), and even advanced systems like autonomous vehicles.
Training and Operation: Narrow AI systems are usually trained on large datasets related to their specific function. For instance, a Narrow AI designed for image recognition would be trained on vast numbers of images but wouldn’t know how to handle unrelated tasks like language translation.
No Consciousness: Narrow AI doesn’t “think” or “understand” concepts in the way humans do. It processes data and follows its programming based on patterns and algorithms.
