LiDAR Overview

(LiDAR) is an acronym for [Light Detection And Ranging] A.K.A. (LIDAR) [Laser Imaging Detection And Ranging] and sometimes goes by LADAR like RADAR which detects images by scanning 3-D with LASER technology. LiDAR is a remote sensing technology that uses laser light to map the surface of the Earth. LiDAR can be used to measure the height of objects, as well as their distance from the sensor. This information can be used to create a 3D model of the area being mapped.

LiDAR has many applications, including mapping terrain for navigation, measuring environmental variables such as vegetation density, and monitoring atmospheric conditions such as pollution levels. LiDAR data can also be used to detect archaeological features hidden beneath tree canopy or underbrush.

Despite its many advantages, LiDAR also has some limitations. It is expensive and requires specialized equipment and training to operate properly. Additionally, LiDAR data can be adversely affected by weather conditions such as fog or clouds. There are many more applications being developed as I type this message.
