Electrical Currents

Electric current is a flow of electric charge through a conductor, such as an electrical wire or circuit. It is measured in amperes (A). Electric current can be either direct or alternating depending on the type of source providing it. Direct current (DC) flows in one direction only, while alternating current (AC) changes its direction periodically.

Electricity itself comes from the movement and interaction between positively charged protons and negatively charged electrons within atoms that make up matter. When these particles move they create an electric field around them which allows for electricity to travel through conductors like wires without losing energy along the way. This process is known as conduction and it’s what makes electricity so useful for powering devices like lights, appliances, computers etc…

Understanding how electrical currents work helps us to better understand how our modern world works with electronics being used almost everywhere we look nowadays! Electrical engineers use their knowledge of currents to design circuits that power everything from cell phones to cars; even medical equipment relies heavily on understanding this concept in order to operate safely and efficiently!
