A Data Service Unit (DSU), also known as a Digital Service Unit, is an essential piece of telecommunications circuit terminating equipment. It enables the transformation of digital data between telephone company lines and local equipment, by converting bipolar digital signals from either a Channel service unit (CSU) or a digital circuit into formats compatible with the connected data terminal equipment (DTE). This allows for point-to-point or multipoint operations in any given digital network. The DSU performs this same process when sending information from the DTE to its respective circuit.
