8-Bit

The 8-bit microprocessor was the first in a long line of processors that would eventually lead to the modern day computer. This processor was originally designed for use in video games, but it quickly found its way into other applications as well. The 8-bit processor is able to store and process eight bits of information at a time. This may not sound like much, but it is enough to perform basic mathematical operations and store small amounts of data.

While the 8-bit microprocessor is no longer used in modern computers, it holds an important place in history as the first step towards more complex processors. These early processors laid the foundation for today’s computers, and without them we would not be where we are today.
