(PM) Phase Modulation is a type of (FM) Frequency Modulation where the phase of the carrier wave is varied in accordance with the modulating signal. PM is commonly used in radio communications, particularly in amateur radio and Citizens’ Band (CB) applications.

PM has a number of advantages over other types of modulation, such as Amplitude Modulation (AM). One advantage is that PM signals are less susceptible to interference from background noise than AM signals. This makes PM more suitable for use in environments where there is a lot of background noise, such as on crowded city streets or inside buildings.

Another advantage of PM over AM is that it can be used to transmit digital data using Phase-Shift Keying (PSK). PSK allows for higher data rates than AM, making it more suitable for applications such as high-speed internet and broadband communications.
