Framerate Codex Engine

Purpose

The Framerate Codex defines the temporal architecture by which visual, auditory, and cognitive content is synchronized, processed, and transmitted in discrete temporal units. Framerate is more than speedβ€”it’s the rhythm of perception, cognition, and representation across all visual and auditory systems, both digital and biological.

This codex standardizes the rules for temporal resolution, rendering fidelity, cognitive pacing, and frame encoding in all media and perception-aware systems.

Core Components

1. Frame Temporal Unit Definition (FTUD)

Establishes:

  • Standard frame intervals (e.g., 24, 30, 60, 120, 240 fps)
  • Variable framerate schema for adaptive systems
  • Perceptual thresholds (e.g., human visual retention at ~16 fps, cognitive comfort at 60–90 fps)

Supports quantum frames for neural and photonic systems, where time is discretized below perceptual thresholds.

2. Rendering Synchronization Protocols (RSP)

Controls the timing of frame display relative to:

  • Hardware refresh rates
  • Content type (motion, static, gesture)
  • User cognitive load or neural rhythm (links to Neural Harmonics Codex)

Includes latency tolerance schemas, frame-skipping policies, and reframe reconstruction logic.

3. Cognitive Framerate Adaptation Engine (CFAE)

  • Adjusts framerate based on:
    • Eye-tracking feedback
    • Attention variability
    • Neural entrainment patterns (via BCI or EEG)

Applies bio-adaptive rendering where frame tempo matches viewer or user state, improving comprehension, immersion, or rest.

4. Frame Integrity & Continuity Layer (FICL)

Governs:

  • Motion vector continuity
  • Scene interpolation logic
  • Frame duplication/drop rules
  • Encoding checksum verification for visual and symbolic consistency

Integrates with Bitstream Codex and Signal Codex for error-resilient rendering in lossy or dynamic environments.

5. Recursive Timeframe Embedding (RTE)

Allows each frame to:

  • Embed metadata about prior and next states
  • Carry semantic context, visual cues, and logical transitions
  • Enable compressed time narratives or non-linear render order

Empowers both media creation and AI narrative reasoning (via Algorithm & Cognitive Codices).

Applications

  • Video streaming and compression protocols
  • Neural UI interfaces with eye-motion or intention detection
  • Cinematic optimization for immersive storytelling
  • Augmented/Virtual/Mixed Reality environments
  • AI sensory perception emulation and synthetic memory frames

Interoperability with Other Codices

  • Bitstream Codex: Provides raw frame encoding and packetization logic.
  • Neural Harmonics Codex: Aligns frame output with neural phase windows for perception optimization.
  • Signal Codex: Manages transmission frequency and jitter handling.
  • Visual Bandwidth Codex: Determines optimal framerate based on available throughput.
  • Algorithm Codex: Embeds predictive rendering and pre-caching logic.
  • Cognitive Codex: Tunes framerate to attention span, fatigue, and rhythm of cognition.
  • Interface Codex: Ensures framerate sync across multisensory interfaces and input/output channels.
