What Benefits Could Satellite Internet Offer You?

Here's a question that you should ask yourself: "what does satellite internet have to offer me?" It's a question that more and more consumers-and internet users in particular-are beginning to ask themselves, especially in light of the incredibly high conversion rates to satellite services all across the market, in both urban areas as well as remote areas.

How Does a Satellite Internet Service Work?

The satellite Internet signal that transmits from the geosynchronous satellite uses a frequency band that is of the electromagnetic spectrum. This signal band is the same frequency that radar detectors use and may in some cases cause distortion of the signal.

Broadband Service Providers And Their Services

The first broadband servicer we will look at is a successful cell phone company. They have several different packages of high-speed internet in the form of DSL. They have three specials on their DSL which is based on the speed of the internet. They are priced from $35 to $45 per month. These are internet services without telephone service. However, if a phone line is needed and purchased with the internet, it reduces the price of the internet service by $15 for each package. So, the consumer saves potentially with the package service.

Is Satellite Internet Worth The Money?

The next question is usually regarding the required equipment that satellite communications comes with. You will need a modem, just like you do for cable and DSL, and you will need the dish to be placed somewhere outside of your home or business. Windows 2000 and Mac OS 10. 4 are the oldest systems that you can get away with running using satellite internet. Any computer, regardless of the operating system, needs to have 128 MB of RAM and 100MB hard disk space to handle the technology. Of course all computers will need the required Ethernet card.

Is Satellite Internet A Solution For You?

The request is then beamed back to the closest satellite dish and send across the United States' internet backbone to the web server that you are trying to establish a connection with. The request goes back the same way that it came to deliver the request that you sent. All of this communications happens in less than 700 milliseconds; essentially transparent to the end user. If for some reason this process should not work, companies do have back up facilities and antennas so that you are always connected.

Satellite Internet: The Wave Of The Future

We all have heard about people not having their TVs for several hours to several days because of bad weather. However, satellite technology has greatly improved since those days. But most businesses cannot take the chance of any downtime for bad weather, solar flares or any other reason. If you are considering a possible switch it might be helpful to have a better understanding of how it all works, so that you can feel comfortable in making a choice.

Understanding Satellite Bandwidth And How It Works

The service satellite is what is known as a geosynchronous satellite, this refers to the fact that the satellite travels at the same speed of the earth. By doing this it manages to maintain basically a stationary position over the planet. So that no matter where the earth is in conjunction to its rotation the satellite will be in the same general position. This makes it possible to transmit data between a stationary users satellite to the orbiting satellite.

Satellite Bandwidth What It Is And How It Works

This technology is not required for cell phones and is unique to satellite internet. The primary satellite is satellite that orbits the earth. This is known as the Geosynchronous satellite, which typically orbits the earth over the equator at approximately the same speed as the as the earth's rotation. This means that the satellite stays in approximately the same spot over the earth throughout its entire orbit as its name implies.

What Is Satellite Bandwidth And How Does It Work?

Older devices such as cell phones do not require this type of technology so consequently this is new to internet satellites. The geosynchronous satellite keeps a generally fixed position over the earth, so that as the earth rotates so does the satellite in the same general location. This makes it possible to communicate with the satellite at all times.
