AT&T, Communications Workers of America Reach Tentative Agreement in Southeast Contract Negotiations

AT&T Inc. (NYSE:T) today announced that it has reached a tentative agreement with the Communications Workers of America in core wireline contract negotiations in CWA District 3 (AT&T’s Southeast Region), covering approximately 30,000 employees in Alabama, Florida, Georgia, Kentucky, Louisiana, Mississippi, North Carolina, South Carolina, and Tennessee.

Sprint, Comcast, Time Warner Cable Launch Mobile WiMAX In Local Markets Via Clearwire

Sprint launched commercial WiMAX services in Honolulu and Maui in Hawaii and in Seattle, Washington. Sprint is the largest investor in Clearwire and offers its MVNO WiMAX service under the "Sprint 4G" brand Meanwhile, Comcast launched high-speed wireless data service in Chicago and Seattle, as Time Warner Cable began marketing its own version of the service in Dallas, TX. Clearwire -- which operates the WiMax networks that both cable operators are using -- kicked off its own retail operations in 10 additional U.S.

Windstream Completes Acquisition of Lexcom, Inc.

LITTLE ROCK, Ark.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Windstream Corporation (NYSE: WIN) announced today that it has completed its acquisition of Lexcom, Inc., based in Lexington, N.C., for approximately $141 million in cash, net of working capital acquired. Windstream adds approximately 23,000 access lines, about 9,000 high-speed Internet customers and about 12,000 cable TV customers in the transaction, which expands the company’s North Carolina operations.

Next Up For Windstream? How About Deltacom …

On Wednesday before the Thanksgiving break, Windstream (WIN: chart , news ) dropped another M&A bombshell on the telecom market, taking out Iowa Telecom for $1.1B including some $600M in net debt.  This follows the acquisition of D&E in May and its recently announced acquisitions of Lexcom in North Carolina and of CLEC NuVox just a few weeks ago.  Quite a roll-up being managed out of Little Rock this year, eh? … [ visit site to read more ]
