The Growth of Metro Ethernet Services
Ethernet technology was first considered in the 70's and implemented in the 80's. What this meant is that data could now travel from one computer to another much like voice traveled from one person to another over a land line phone system.

Ethernet Over Copper (EoC): The Modern Ethernet Standard
In 1979, Metcalfe left Xerox to promote the use of local access networks (LAN's) in personal computers. Ethernet technology continued to develop. The coaxial cable, which was expensive to install and provided unreliable network access, was replaced with a system of hubs and switches. This system allowed for faster and steadier access.

What Is (EoC) Ethernet Over Copper?
EoC is a fast and cheap technology; it can run a 10 Mbps Ethernet connection for a little over a thousand dollars a month. EoC uses 5 pairs of copper wires to run, giving it the added advantage of being able to work even if a couple of pairs become non-functional. In this case, the network will run more slowly.

Metropolitan Ethernet- Learn About Metropolitan Internet Now
There are many different options for installing metro Ethernet in you office such as the Pure Ethernet MAN, the Ethernet over SDH or Ethernet over MPLS. Pure Ethernet is cheaper than the two other but it not flexible enough and neither it is much reliable. It is only good enough for small businesses and not with a lot of cash. Ethernet over SDH for MAN is more reliable than pure Ethernet but it also very costly.
