T1 Line Providers and the service they render, keeps the lines of communication open for many companies and their consumers. What a T1 line does is to connect to the internet at a speed of about 1.54 megabits per second. It operates bi-directionally in having the ability to upload and download while maintaining a speed of 1.5 megabits per second.

The companies that use T1′s are Hotel Chains, Global Connections, Phone Rooms, Qwest, MCI, and various other businesses. Telephone companies maintain the lines with the functionality to provide a company’s multiple buildings with internet connectivity. These lines are dedicated lines that can be used for fast internet connection. The more lines that are dedicated to the internet connection, the faster the connection will be.

T1′s are reliable, with guaranteed up times. There are different types of T1′s, such as the Voice T1, Integrated T1, and Bonded T1 all with their own functionality. Voice T1 has twenty-four phone lines, all are used for phone service and they can all be used at the same time.

Then there are the local voice and long distance voice functions which breakdown to higher charges for long distance with the local, and free local call service. Whereas the long distance voice has lower rates, but high rates for local calls. Integrated T1 is great for when you need a mix of data and phone service.

It also has twenty-four lines but they have the capability of being switched from data to phone. You can use as many lines for one or the other as needed. A Bonded T1 bonds together several T1′s. Its speed is multiplied by how many T1′s it is connecting. So if a T1 runs at a speed of 1.54 megabits per second, a bonded T1 that is connecting five T1′s is sending out a signal that is running 7.70 megabits per second.

There are many carriers to provide the services of whichever T1 is right for your company’s needs. Connectivity specialists are available through some ISP’s. Speaking to one can help you distinguish just what your needs are in making your selection. Prices vary by what type and how many lines are needed.

Here is a list of some T1 providers, such as AT&T, Covad, DSL. Net, Bellsouth, Qwest, Verizon, Eschelon, and Inflow, to name a few. They are experts in their fields when it comes to T1 service and can be of great assistance in getting your company set up appropriately.

A company can go from speeds of 30 Kilobits per second using a standard dial up connection, to 1.54 megabits per second with a T1. They can use them for whatever they want, phone service or for data transfer. Rates are based on the distance that the company is from the provider, with savings occurring from bundling.

T1 line providers and the services they provide are extremely important for many companies. Without them communication efforts would not only run at a snails pace, but would also be very limited, not to mention very costly. T1′s reduce the price of voice and data lines combined or singly, and receive faster connections because of the bundling factors of multiple buildings that are using the services.

For those of you who came here to learn about RBOC, that is exactly what you will be getting. You see, many people come up to us and ask us what RBOC stands for. Before we have to answer the same question a million of different times, we decided that we should write an article on it. Simply put, RBOC stands for Regional Bell Operating Company. When this was created, it resulted in the breakup of AT&T during the year 1983. You see, AT&T was able to keep the long-distance services that they provided to their customers, but the national local service had been broke up into seven different geographic regions.

In case you did not know, RBOC is often referred to as being a Local Exchange Carrier (LEC). There were seven original Regional Bell Operating Companies. Those seven original include Bell Atlantic, Ameritech, BellSouth, NYNEX, US West, Southwestern Bell and Pacific Bell. Chances are, many of those names sound familiar to you, because they are very popular in the United States of America.

During the year 1997, NYNEX joined in with Bell Atlantic and they are now a part of Verizon. We are sure you have heard of Verizon before, because they are very popular. During the year 1998, Pacific Bell was purchased by SBC.

Then, during the same year (1998), Southwestern Bell became SBC. During the year 1999, Ameritech was bought by SBC. During the year 2000, Bell Atlantic became a part of Verizon. Also, during the year 2000, US West became a part of Qwest Communications. As of right now, BellSouth is the only RBOC that has the same identity.

An agreement was made regarding shared trademarks. At the time, AT&T Corp. Was no longer allowed to use the Bell logo or name. Those trademarks would only be allowed to be shared by the RBOCs.

The Bell South acquisition, Cincinnati Bell is the only former AT&T Company that still has the “Bell” name. Additionally, Bell Canada separated from AT& T during the year 1956 and completed in 1975. They continue to use the “Bell” trademark today and today Bell Canada continues to use that “Bell” trademark and they own it outright in the Canada area.

On the payphones, Verizon is still using the Bell logo ad this includes the former GTE payphones. They are also using he bell logo on buildings, hard hats and even trucks. A local phone company that is owned by Qwest, Malheur Bell is still using the Bell name as well as the logo. In order to maintain their respective trademark rights, they will more than likely continue to display both the logo and the name.

As you see, RBOC is not as complicated as you first thought it was. You see, as we wrote this article for you, we tried to take the information we have learned by reading and put it in laymen terms for you.

We are not implying that you do not know technical terms, but we do know that the average human could get a headache by trying to understand it when it is written in technological terms.
