BT’s Vision – The Fibre Optics Plan

BT Group plc - formerly known as British Telecommunications - has undertaken an ambitious and arduous task: Providing high-speed broadband on a fibre optic backbone to nearly half of the UK population. Demands on the ancient copper wires with the explosion of internet video and other high-density transmissions has forced BT to literally double and redouble their initial plans to provide fibre optics to 1 million homes to 10 million homes with Fibre To The Premises (FTTP) access by 2012.
