Is Used Laptop On Sale Worth Your Money?

There is an obvious reason why sometimes you choose used laptop, preferably on sale, and that is limited budget. But that buying decision often has some tradeoffs. One of which is the insecurity it may bring to you as a buyer. The other concern is that you may end-up after all not saving anything after all the money you spent to have it fixed.

This hesitation on your part is not without basis. Usually, people who previously owned the laptop leave no footprint whether their unit receives due protection before they start selling them to a shop. In some cases, you can only tell you got the broken product right after using them for few days or so. If you are a relative beginner and weren’t told that some failed parts actually no longer practical to have it fixed because they cost almost the same as the laptop itself, you become suspicious that you have been ripped-off.

From the looks of it, the laptop itself seems too fragile that just one accidental fall may break the whole unit. Used laptops sold in some shops in your local area usually run a number of tests before they accept the product from the previous user, attached their warranty and put them on display in store.  Warranty can vary from product to product or store to store. Normally, a 3 months warranty is provided by the store so you can run testing yourself on them before you can ask for a refund. Even some sellers of an auction stores like ebay usually provide warranty for their product such that you as a buyer can a have a relative piece of mind for quite a while.

An alternative way is to get a refurbished laptop. Many companies that are selling brand-new laptops also offer refurbished models, usually on their product lines. This type of laptop has undergone basic makeover to increase their usage lifespan. The cost of getting this new laptop is between the cheapest brand-new and the used laptop but warranty period is much longer than ordinary used laptop on sale.  So if you want to spend a bit just to have an extra peace of mind, there is an option for you to choose from.
